C24 Grade
Longridge Timber stock a huge range of the highest quality C24 structural grade timber at both our Longridge and Preston depots. The strength of timber comes from the natural properties of the wood and the way the tree grows, with graders evaluating the timbers’ characteristics. We choose to supply C24 grade imported timber as this is straighter and less likely to twist given that it is slower grown than domestic timber. With regards to strength and load carrying, C24 boards are clearly superior to C16 timber. They also have aesthetic benefits with less surface imperfections than C16 grade timber.

As it is one of the few natural building materials, it uses less energy to produce than other structural materials such as concrete and steel. Being effectively carbon neutral it’s the most sustainable form of construction.
